There's a story in the Washington Post today about Thomas Rongen taking the coaching job for American Samoa. I'm not sure I'd want the job coaching American Samoa. According to the article, they've lost every international game they've played, 0-30 since 1998, been outscored 229-12, and once lost a world cup qualifier 31-0. Sounds like a dream job to me. If I recall correctly, money is an issue with the team, even to the point of having trouble getting equipment. I wish Rongen luck, but I can't see this resulting in a World Cup spot. I think CONCACAF plays Oceania for a WC Spot, so it would be funny if the US ended up playing American Samoa with a WC spot on the line. I hope that doesn't happen though since it would mean some underachieving by the US. Maybe American Samoa vs Honduras. Let's go with that.
