I've been playing online and live for years now, but over the weekend I got a royal flush for the first time. I was in New Orleans for my brother's bachelor party weekend and he and I were playing a little poker at Harrah's New Orleans while tghe rest of our party relaxed back at the pool. The cards hadn't been going my way and I was down about $75 from my initial $200 buy-in. The action was unraised to me in the small blind and I completed the blind with KTc. The flop came AcJc6s. I checked, the big blind bet out $20 and the button and I called. On the turn, the Qc came out completing my royal flush. I checked and the big blind and button also checked. Damn, I was really hoping one of them would bet. The obviously incosequential river was the 4d. I bet out 35 figuring there wasn't much chance of the other players calling, and to my surprise the big blind put me all in. The button thought about calling, but eventually folded. And I obviously insta-called and flipped my cards over. So I won a nice pot and got a free jacket from the poker room. Just what I needed in New Orleans in late May! I'll wear it proudly in the fall though. Thanks Harrah's New Orleans Poker Room!
